Data Protection Notice - Use of Information

This Notice explains what “AIB” and “AIB Group” will do with information provided by you to us on or in connection with stuff4students.ie (this “Site”) so that you can decide whether or not to provide that information to us.

 “AIB” refers to Allied Irish Banks, p.l.c. and “AIB Group” refers to Allied Irish Banks, p.l.c., its subsidiaries, affiliates and their respective parent and subsidiary companies and includes all successors and assigns. Any reference to “we”, “us” or “our” means AIB Group.

The information that you provide will be held by AIB (and shared with AIB Group) on a computer database and/or in any other way. By registering as a member on the Site and/or using the Site by entering draws or competitions, availing of discounts and offers or posting comments to any Blogs you consent to the use of your personal data by us for all or any of the following purposes.

  • For the purpose of conducting draws and competitions (“Promotions”). Promotion winners may be requested to take part in promotional activity and we reserve the right to use information relating to Promotion winners, including their names and the contents of their submissions, in any publicity both online and in any other media.
  • If you are under 18 years of age and are required to provide details relating to your parent/guardian for Promotion entry or other good reason you confirm that you have obtained permission for the disclosure of their personal data and for AIB to contact them should this be necessary in connection with your participation in a Promotion.
  • Content you post to our Blogs may be published (at our discretion) together with your name.
  • For direct marketing purposes, to advise you of the products and services of AIB Group. Your permission to market such products and services is provided by you to AIB Group when registering as a member of the Site. To stop future marketing, membership may be cancelled by contacting AIB Online Retailing, AIB Bank, Bankcentre, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4, Ireland.
  • To manage and develop AIB Group relationships with you and any future agreements that we may have with you.
  • To carry out statistical analysis and market research; in this connection, we may use the services of a reputable external agency.
  • To carry out searches (including verifying your identity).

Personal Data shall be retained by us for a minimum period of five years from the date of your registration as a member on the Site at which time we have the right to contact you to confirm your current status.

We may record telephone conversations to offer you additional security, resolve complaints and improve our service standards. Conversations may also be monitored for staff training purposes.

Our websites use "cookie" technology. A cookie is a little piece of text stored by your browser on your computer, at the request of our server. We may use cookies to deliver content specific to your interests and to save your personal preferences so you do not have to re-enter them each time you connect to the Internet.

Under the Data Protection Acts you have the right of access to information we hold about you on our records on payment of a nominal fee (currently EUR6.35). You can exercise this right by writing to your local AIB branch or to the Data Protection Unit, Allied Irish Banks, p.l.c., Bankcentre, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4. If anything is inaccurate or incorrect, please let us know and we will correct it. There is no fee for this.

If you decide to proceed with this application or have any other communication with AIB Group through or in relation to its products and services, you consent to the use by AIB Group of your personal data as indicated above.
